Dreams: Interpreting Dreams

Genesis 41:32
That the dream was sent twice to Pharaoh and in two forms indicates that this thing that God will very soon bring to pass is fully prepared and established by God.

Do not interpretations belong to God [Genesis 40:8]

There are many references to dreams recorded in the Bible. Due to the nature of his dreams, Joseph evoked envy and hatred in his brothers.

When they saw him far off, even before he came near to them, they said one to another, “SEE, HERE COMES THIS DREAMER AND MASTER OF DREAMS.”

Joseph’s dreams were specific and fulfilled to the letter – even those dreams which he interpreted through God, for Pharaoh, for the butler and baker.

God appeared to Solomon in a dream and asked him “What can I give you?” and he in turn asked for wisdom and knowledge and was consequently given far more than he enquired for. [1 Kings 3:5]

Recorded in Job 33:15 – “One may hear God’s voice in a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, while slumbering upon the bed; Then He opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction – terrifying them with warnings – That He might withdraw a man from his purpose, and cut off pride from him – disgusting him with his own disappointing self sufficiency.

In Genesis 28:12–15 Jacob dreamed that there was a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. And your offspring shall be as the dust of the ground, you shall spread abroad to the west and to the east and the north and the south; and by you and your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed and bless themselves. And Behold, I am with you, and will keep watch over you with care, take notice of you wherever you may go, and I will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done all of which I have told you.

In the aforementioned verses God addresses Jacob and His instructions are clear and very specific – HE LITERALLY GAVE JACOB A BLUEPRINT OF HIS LIFE.

Dreams that emanate from and have their source in God are specific and detailed – they are not vague, obscure or confusing and fragmented.

Interpretations belong to God and the relevance thereof cannot be extracted from books based on conformity – each dream has a personal significance to an individual, based on their circumstances.

It would be wise if we enquired of God regarding the interpretation thereof and we ought not to attach insignificant theories to them.

However, when a dream recurs twice in two forms it does indicate that God will bring it to pass very soon as it is fully prepared and established by God.

God is very gracious and merciful, and there is a time lapse wherein we are afforded the opportunity to pray when the dreams are terrifying or violent.

The Holy Spirit reveals all to us, and if we are directly or indirectly defying God and these dreams come as a warning, let us not waste this time in evading the very truth we know, by choosing to ignore it, but confrontation and acknowledgement thereof would be the acceptable to God. – Sage
