As tenderly as a father treats his children, so Yahweh treats those who fear him;
He knows what we are made of, He remembers we are dust.
Man lasts no longer than grass, no longer than a wild flower he lives,
One gust of wind, and he is gone, never to be seen there again. – The Jerusalem Bible
He remembers we are dust. Powerful words and I ask myself, why should He remember? Why should the Creator of the Heavens and Earth remember man? Yet, He remembers the frailty of our flesh, the brevity of our life-span and promises that His love for those who fear him lasts from all eternity and for ever, like His goodness to our children’s children, as long as they keep His covenant and remember to obey His precepts.
I stand in awe of such a great God that extends His mercy to one’s children and children’s children long after our footsteps have vanished from the earth and we have become a distant memory to those left behind, He still remembers His promise.
How then can we that are counted as dust, fail to remember Him, to serve Him, to love Him and worship Him all the days of our life?
