The Dow Takes A Cliff Dive – February 17, 2009
The Dow plunged nearly 300 points and barely avoided making a new six-year low Tuesday as the markets continue to worry the government’s rescue efforts won’t stop the nation’s economic bleeding any time soon. “We are concerned that the three-pronged approach – stimulus package, financial rescue and foreclosure initiatives – is just going to take a whole lot longer than we thought a month ago. That should’ve been something we wrapped our arms around a while ago,” said Art Hogan, chief market strategist at Jefferies & Co. Fox Business

The Gallup survey, released Wednesday, found a quarter of those polled do not believe in evolution, and 36 percent said they don’t have an opinion either way. Fox News

Attorneys with the Alliance Defense Fund have filed a lawsuit on behalf of Jonathan Lopez, a student whose class presentation was cut short by an irate professor who berated and threatened to get him expelled for giving a pro-marriage speech as a class assignment. “Public institutions of higher learning cannot selectively censor Christian speech,” said ADF Senior Counsel David French. “This student was speaking well within the confines of his professor’s assignment when he was censored and ultimately threatened with expulsion.” Alliance Defense Fund

Materialism And Darwin Day – February 12, 2009
According to many of his modern followers, Darwin is the world’s greatest scientist, and his theory is the cornerstone of modern biology – if not the whole of modern science. As the 200th anniversary of Darwin’s birth passes, an international campaign is under way to declare February 12th ‘Darwin Day.’ Yet, Darwin did not propose a hypothesis that was then confirmed by evidence – as truly great scientists have done. Instead, like Marx and Freud, Darwin provided what evolutionary biologist Douglas Futuyma has called “a crucial plank to the platform of mechanism and materialism” that now dominates Western thought.
