A California couple had their five-month-old baby “snatched” by police after they took the infant to get a second opinion on a medical procedure, they claim. Anna and Alex Nikolayev are described as loving parents who took their baby, who has a heart murmur, to Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento when he started exhibiting flu-like symptoms. The family has undergone plenty of doctor visits in the last five months for their son’s heart, and were unsettled by the treatment he was receiving.

The holdup has been a 1992 Supreme Court ruling that states cannot require businesses in other states to collect taxes for them. Now, legislation is moving through the U.S. Senate to facilitate Internet sellers to collect sales tax and remit it to the purchaser’s state.

France Legalizes Gay Marriage – April 23, 2013

France became the 14th country in the world to allow same-sex couples to wed Tuesday, when its parliament approved a law that has sparked often violent street protests and a rise in homophobic attacks. Lawmakers in the lower house National Assembly, where President Francois Hollande’s Socialists have an absolute majority, passed the bill by 331 votes for and 225 against.
