Israel Won’t Seek US Permission To Strike Iran – July 07, 2009
Vice President Joe Biden told ABC News earlier this week that the US would not stand in the way of an Israeli strike on Iran. However, President Obama told CNN that the US wanted to pursue diplomatic channels in resolving things with Iran and had “absolutely not” given Israel a green light to bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities. Israel will therefore be unlikely to seek approval from the US if it decides that a strike on Iran is necessary for its protection. Haaretz News

Pope Wants Global Authority For Global Economy – July 07, 2009
Pope Benedict said on Tuesday, “there is an urgent need of a true world political authority” whose task would be “to manage the global economy; to revive economies hit by the crisis; to avoid any deterioration of the present crisis and the greater imbalances that would result.” Many freedom-loving people fear a strong global government, but not the Pope. “Obviously it would have to have the authority to ensure compliance with its decisions from all parties…” he said. Organic Molecules Found In Mummified Dinosaur Skin – July 07, 2009
Scientists from The University of Manchester have identified preserved organic molecules in the skin of a hadrosaur. A wide range of tests have shown that the fossil still holds cell-like structures, although the constituent proteins have decayed. “You’re looking at cell-like structures; you slice through this and you’re looking at the cell structure of dinosaur skin,” said Dr Phil Manning, Senior Lecturer in Palaeontology at SEAES. “That is absolutely gobsmacking.” ScienceDaily

British Doctors Not Free To Offer Patients Prayer – July 01, 2009
The British Medical Association conference in Liverpool debated a motion saying medics should be free to discuss spiritual issues. But delegates at the union’s annual meeting refused to back the proposal. Last year community nurse Caroline Petrie was suspended by North Somerset NHS Trust after offering to pray for a patient.
